Nature is an
integral part of
Human Nature,
half of both
the phrase and
the concept.

We behave well when we
behave naturally and badly
when we act unnaturally.
Yet the opposite is also
true - Nature is very human
to us. We define ourselves
by Nature, by either
fighting it or trying to be
at one with it.

We approach it like
every-thing else by making
it like ourselves. We fight
Nature as we would a
man, excuse the clichè,
the Freudian Father figure -
to conquer, dominate,
possess. Then, we go
halfway across the world
to get away from the results
of that fight - skyscrapers,
smog, traffic and stress -
to be in a beautiful
landscape to feel peaceful
and natural. Ahhh, the
feminine, the eternal,
Mother Nature.

But fight it or love it,
we are eternally both.
Our Dual Nature is both,
Human and Nature.
We are a part of it.
Without it we wouldn't
exist, like we wouldn't
exist without our opposites:
men without women,
East without West,
earth without water.
Ancients said it better
and more poetically than
I can. But I can show it
in my images, images
of both Nature
and Humanity -
Our Dual Nature.
